…possibly means that it is impossible to ever have an original experience. It’s all been done before. I am not unique. Should this be comforting or frustrating?

ohhellobee asked: i would like to know what you think you know about the LDS faith, or what you call "Mormon". Seeming as how you look fairly young, it should be interesting to see what crazy ideas you think you understand to be true.

Å / å is a letter in the Norwegian alphabet! So is ø. Yay me
malallory asked: I saw your post about Brandon Flowers being a (sort of) Mormon, and now I'm curious? What is it you have against the LDS church? What happened to make you feel that way?

1999 was such a good year for teen movies.
She’s All That, Cruel Intentions, 10 Things I Hate About You, American Pie, Never Been Kissed, The Virgin Suicides. Can you believe all these came out in the same year?! It was probably the last really great year for teen movies.
Also in 1999: American Beauty, Fight Club, Girl Interrupted, The Matrix, The Sixth Sense. What a crazy year.
Honorable mentions: The Pokemon movie and the South...

“This documentary takes a closer look at the seedy world of brostitution and brostitutes. This film digs deeper than any other film has when it comes to this secret world of bro-on-bro non-sexual love for profit.”
First, Tim Roth.
Second, well, you read the description.

HORRIBLE NEWS: Brandon Flowers of The Killers is a...
This is not OK. This is not OK at all.
I am obviously devastated, but this does explain the weird feeling I’ve gotten from some of their songs. I’m fine with religion/Christianity being in songs, but some of their lyrics feel moralizing in a very odd way (see: references to the devil in “When You Were Young” and “A Dustland Fairytale.” These creep me out, even...

A very significant moment happened to me in third...
I will never forget this. In third grade there were two girls who were mean to me. They just didn’t like me, even though I had done nothing to deserve their disdain (yet). One of them called me a slow runner when we played Red Rover. The other one, I don’t remember exactly what she did to me in third grade, but she was mean and her attitude lasted for several years after that. In 6th...

You guys, I just realized a dilemma.
Sweettarts versus pop-tarts?
Also, I just realized that the lemon/yellow sweettarts have been eliminated. I miss the yellow! (Blue is still the best, though.)

Macaulay Culkin is moving on from Mila Kunis with this pornstar person. I fear this may be the beginning of an epic downfall.
But he’s lookin’ damn good.
He does look good here. Who is she?

I did not get into Teach For America.
But it’s OK. I am not depressed. It does feel kind of like a breakup, in that I invested a lot of time into it and counted on it as part of my future, and it didn’t work out. But breakups also mean the freedom to explore other options. We all know I’ve had enough breakups to know that they don’t have to be a terrible thing.
Of course...

Janus was the Roman god of the doorway or threshold. I find it funny that they needed a god of doorways and thresholds. But it’s also neat. I used the threshold metaphor for my senior poem-thing when we graduated from high school: a time of being...

I’ve been waiting all week for rush and classes to be done so I could have some time to listen to this interview. It’s long, but so good. He points out that there ARE straight male figure skaters out there. So I still have a chance.

“The fact that I like everything is rather conflicting, isn’t it? I’m a rationalist, a cynic, an idealist, an empiricist, a stoic, a poet. I call myself practical but I dream and idealize, but to me it that is practical because it works for me. I think independently but my emotions are based on other people. I want to heal the world but I cannot sacrifice myself; I am not...

Hah.
Remember a couple months or so ago I entertained myself with taking quizzes to determine my political orientation? It revealed that I am more or less moderate-to-conservative. Just now I was perusing my old livejournal posts (because I like to hate myself) and in 2005, a similar quiz revealed that I was apparently quite heavily a socialist and was 0% Republican. Is this what they call growing up?

This is funny!
The thing is, while I love the show, I’ve never been a fan of Dawson. He’s too much of a nice guy — which is what this video mocks. He’s boring. Bleh. So don’t worry, future romantic interests, I won’t be comparing you to Dawson Leery. Now, Eddie Doling is another question…

Joey: Yeah, and we have the entire summer to take this trip. Nobody said we have to go tomorrow.

Joey: Of course I want to do this.
